Figure skaters Shesheleva and Karnaukhov: “The favorite place in the Tutberidze Palace is the buffet”

Figure skaters Polina Shesheleva and Egor Karnaukhov, winners of the Junior Grand Prix stage in Moscow, talked about their favorite place at the Eteri Tutberidze Ice Palace.

Shesheleva and Karnaukhov became first in pair skating at the Grand Prix stadium among juniors in Moscow with a score of 190.26 points. Second – Zoya Kovyazina and Artemy Mokhov (180.93), third – Olga Sabada and Pavel Astakhov (179.24).

— How will you analyze your performance?

Karnaukhov: We have slightly improved our result compared to the previous step. There are very serious errors. What they have trained, they have now shown.

Shecheleva: We trained the todes, the track. We would like to thank Maxim Sergeevich Bolotin. We worked with him every day and finally took a forward-looking approach, which no one does.

—How did you manage to accumulate todes like that?

Karnaukhov: We practiced several times.

— You participated in Tutberidze’s open training. Tell me how was it?

Shecheleva: Very good experience. There were a lot of spectators. At big competitions there can be some nervousness, so this served as a lesson for us in public speaking.

—How do you find the center? Do you have a favorite place in the Ice Palace?

Karnaukhov: My favorite place is probably the buffet. All the conditions are very cool, there is everything for athletes.

— Egor, you are from Tyumen. Who did you start your training with?

Karnaukhov: I trained with Natalya Ivanovna Karaseva. We write to her again, she congratulates us. I follow all the guys I was friends with. I was asked to try pair skating. My parents said we had to go. At first I was skeptical, but I came to Moscow, tried it and liked it.

—Have you ever skated?

Shecheleva: Yes, but we are still working. Not everything is perfect. “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the coaches and our mothers,” reports the correspondent the skaters’ words.
