Figure skaters Arina Gorshenina and Ilya Makarov, who took second place at the Russian Grand Prix among juniors in Moscow, said that they enjoyed the skates, and also explained who they supported among the adult couples.
Gorshenina and Makarov took second place in ice dancing with a score of 169.86 points. The first place was taken by Vasilisa Grigorieva and Evgeny Artyushchenko (173.13), the third place was taken by Daria Drozhzhina and Ivan Telnov (164.17).
— How will you analyze your performance here?
Gorchenina: We certainly enjoyed these performances. We made a few mistakes that we will work on in order to avoid dirt in our skating in the future and start with more confidence.
— How would you rate your free dance?
Makarov: It seems to me that we did worse than the rhythm dance of the day before. There were more errors in the free skate.
– How do you explain this?
Gorchenina: I think anxiety played a role, which didn’t allow us to ride with confidence in the technical part and do what we really know how to do.
— Is there a certain feeling that you were not able to show everything you had developed during training?
Makarov: No, we are satisfied with the result. We were able to improve the results in rhythm dance, free dance and total. I want to ride better, brighter, cleaner.
— This Grand Prix is dedicated to the memory of Alexander Georgievich Gorshkov. What can you say about him?
Gorchenina: It is a great honor for us to compete on the Grand Prix stage, named in honor of Alexander Georgievich. It’s great that we have made a meaningful debut in his honor. Last season we played at the AG Gorshkov Memorial in Sochi. This season it is very good that it is one of the stages of the Grand Prix.
— Do you have any plans for the future?
Makarov: Russian Championship, Grand Prix final and a lot of work.
Gorchenina: For the rest, I think we will find out in the future from our coaches.
— Do you follow the adult series Grand Prix? Who impresses you?
Gorchenina: On the Russian scene we now have many strong and masterful couples. I want to be equal to everyone. The first three and six are very cool guys.
Makarov: Naturally, we support the guys in our group. For Varya (Zhdanova) with Timur (Babaev-Smirnov) and Liza (Shichina) with Pasha (Drozd).
