The draw for the playoff match took place Billie Jean King Cup between women’s teams Ukraine And Austria.

On the first day of the confrontation, November 16, fights will take place Lesya TsurenkoTamira Pashek (starts at 20:00 Kyiv time) and Katarina ZavatskayaSigna Kraus.

On November 17, two more singles matches are planned, where the opponents will switch places: Tsurenko – Kraus and Zavatskaya – Pashek. If a fifth match is needed to determine the winning team, then Ukraine will be represented in doubles Nadezhda Kichenok And Anastasia Sobolevaand Austria – the same Pashek and Kraus.

According to the latest edition of the WTA ranking, Tsurenko occupies 115th position in it, being the sixth racket of Ukraine. Zavatskaya is among the top 9 Ukrainian tennis players, occupying 229th position. As for the representatives of Austria, Kraus is in 222nd place in the world rankings, and Paszek is in 366th.

Initially, the first racket of Ukraine, Marta Kostyuk (ranked No. 18), was planned to participate in the match, but it later turned out that she would not be able to play for the national team due to personal circumstances. Anastasia Lopata was called to replace Marta, but the young Ukrainian broke her arm before preparing for the fight.

The matches will take place this weekend at The Courts in McKinney, Texas, USA. The winner of this meeting will qualify to compete in the 2025 World Finals qualification. Former first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina (now recovering from surgery) said that she would arrive in Texas to support her compatriots.

Let us remind you that for the third year in a row Ukraine failed to make it to the final part of the Billie Jean King Cup. In 2022, our tennis players lost to the US team, and in 2023 – to the Czech national team. In August 2024, the Ukrainians lost to Romania (2:3), losing their lead of two winning games.
