Romanian double world champion David Popovitch won gold at the European Swimming Championships in the 200m freestyle with a new junior world record.
Popovich covered the distance in one minute and 42.97 seconds. He bettered his own junior record (1:43.21), set by a 17-year-old swimmer at the World Championships in Budapest in June this year.
The European Championship takes place in Rome from August 11 to 21.
