Russian figure skating champion Adélia Petrossian said she did not aim to break the world record Kamila Valieva in the short program.
The fourth stage of the Russian Grand Prix began on Saturday in Moscow. Petrosyan scored 86.37 points and is in first place after the short program in the women’s competition. Second – Daria Sadkova (71.59), third – Ksenia Gushchina (71.02). The world record for points in the short program belongs to Kamila Valieva and is 87.42 points. In January 2022, Valieva scored 90.45 points in the short program at the European Championships, but she was later disqualified for violating anti-doping rules and her results, including this one, were annulled.
– Satisfied. In general, everything is fine and the internal condition is also good. Everything suits me, I’m happy with everything.
– How long has it been since you were this happy?
— Since the beginning of autumn, probably. Something didn’t go right, the performance wasn’t what we wanted. After the Kazan stage, I told myself that I had to be more lenient with myself, settling for other elements that performed better at the box office than those that failed. I need to eliminate these thoughts, I still have a lot of work to do.
— What helped you improve your results?
“I’ve worked a lot, in training everything is going pretty well. I hope we can transfer this to competitions.
— There is one point left before Valieva’s record. Do you have a goal to overcome this obstacle?
— We are not on the international scene currently. To be honest, no. I’m not thinking about grades, but about rentals. A clean rental will show the result. I thought today there were fewer points than in Kazan. “I don’t care about my statistics,” correspondent Petrosyan said.
The skaters will present their free programs on Sunday.
