The blue-yellow coach does not believe that the condition of the field hindered his team
Head coach Ukrainian national team Sergey Rebrov commented on the draw result (1:1) against Georgia in the away match of the 5th round of Group B1 Nations League 2024/25.
“[Чувствуем] disappointment – we tried to win. I said that the early goal played such a role that we psychologically tried to keep the score. There were counterattacks, but, unfortunately, this is the score now.”
“We were expecting any game: we were preparing for high pressure, for a positional attack. We play almost all our matches away from home, and Georgia has gained confidence from the support of the fans.”
“The condition of the lawn? I think the field was much better than in the first game against Georgia [в Познани]. I don’t think the little problems got in the way [играть]”
Let us remind you that Rebrov’s team opened the scoring in the opening of the first half – Mikhail Mudrik’s cross was deflected into his own goal by Solomon Kvirkvelia. The Georgians came back 14 minutes before the end – substitute Georges Mikautadze played the finishing touch after Anatoly Trubin made a save.
The Ukrainian national team, having scored 5 points, is still last in its quartet, having more than a real chance of relegation to Division C. The fate of Sergei Rebrov’s team will be decided in the final match with the Albanian national team, which will take place in Tirana on November 19. Georgia has seven points – it is equal to the leading Czech Republic in the group, which will play its fifth round match today away against the same Albania.
