Figure skaters Stepanova and Bukin: “The higher the scores, the more confident you are”

Russian ice dancing champions Alexandra Stepanova And Ivan Boukine said that the grades they receive for their performances are important to them.

On Sunday, Stepanova and Bukin became the best in ice dancing at the fourth stage of the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix in Moscow, scoring 213.90 points in a total of two programs. Irina Khavronina and David Narizhny won silver (206.10), bronze went to Elizaveta Pasechnik and Dario Chirisano (189.39).

Boukine: Thanks to all the viewers, today was even better than yesterday. We organized a figure skating festival.

We showed most of what we had developed between stages. There was quite a bit of time; it was not possible to completely develop the program in two weeks; we worked more on physics and quality. The second and third parts were better.

Stepanova: We couldn’t even get back to the original position because we were screaming and arguing so much. It’s a very good support.

— Many people say that points are not important…

Boukine: I don’t know, I don’t agree with that particular expression. What’s more important is our skating, it’s much more important. But the higher the scores, the more confident you are, you understand that the judges liked and appreciated you.
