Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA ) said that during the trial of retired shot putter Alexander Lobyn, disqualified for violating anti-doping rules, evidence was collected confirming his guilt.
Lobynya finished her career more than 10 years ago. The athlete was sentenced to a four-year suspension based on data from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory (LIMS). The athlete tried to appeal the decision, but the verdict of the anti-doping disciplinary committee (DAK RUSADA) remained in force. Earlier in the media it was reported that Lobynya filed a lawsuit against RUSADA.
— RUSADA has always supported the desire of athletes to exercise the fundamental right to protect their interests – both in the anti-doping disciplinary commission and on appeal.
Indeed, not so long ago, the National Sports Arbitration Center, at the request of an athlete, made a decision that the decision of the DAK to apply a four-year disqualification to the athlete remains in force. During the processing of the results, significant and real evidence was collected and presented confirming the athlete’s guilt, including the conclusion of an independent expert. This case, like others involving LIMS, has a fairly complex evidentiary system where the anti-doping organization must present evidence beyond a doubt.
In total, more than 70 LIMS-related cases were transferred to RUSADA, most of which were closed without sanction precisely because the available evidence in a particular case was not convincing at the appropriate level, told reporters – RUSADA service. .
