The blue-yellows will play Albania on November 19 in the last match of the group stage of the Nations League
Head coach Ukrainian national team Sergey Rebrov spoke about the situation in the team before the match of the final round of the group round Nations League 2024/25 with the national team Albania.
“In connection with the latest attacks on our civilian cities by a terrorist country, I would like to express words of support to the families of the victims. The war in Ukraine continues. The enemy shells cities every day and kills our civilian population. We thank everyone for their support, but right now we need help from European countries.”
“Vanat is recovering. There are still 24 hours left. Vlad came with a desire to play. We didn’t realize how long the recovery would take. He wants to play, is ready to play for our country. We hope he will be ready for this game.”
“I remember every match for the national team, but I don’t remember the goals I scored against Albania. But now Albania has changed: there are a lot of players playing in the top championships, Serie A. It is difficult to compare current and past games. This is the class that Albania shows. They got to the Euro, where they performed very well.”
“The words of Viktor Leonenko? I don’t agree with them. We have a very young team. And young players, even if they are leaders, are not stable. It is very important for such players to show stability in the team and the national team.”
“We have a good team now, a good balance between experienced and young players. I see a good future for this team, but football is today, not yesterday or how you played for your club. You must go on the field and show the maximum level in the national team. We play against top players from every country.”
The meeting between Ukraine and Albania will take place on Tuesday, November 19, in Tirana. The match at the Air Albania stadium will start at 21:45 Kyiv time. The main referee will be Portuguese Joao Pinheiro. Vadim Skichko and Vitaly Kravchenko will comment on the broadcast on the Megogo platform.
Ukraine ranks last in Group B1 with only five points. Albania and Georgia have seven points each, while the leading Czech Republic has eight.
In the confrontation with Albania, Ukraine will only be satisfied with victory. A draw or defeat will automatically relegate the Blue-Yellows to Division C of the Nations League. To take second place and qualify for promotion, the blue-yellows, in addition to their own victory, also need the Georgian team to fail to win in the Czech Republic.
