Spain national team beat on home field Switzerland in the final round of Group 4 Division A League of Nations – 3:2.
Furia Roja got the chance to open the scoring midway through the first half. Pedri missed the penalty, but the ball remained in the penalty area, and after a series of shots, Eremi Pino managed to score. The Swiss were able to come back after the break, Joel Monteiro scored. But just five minutes later, Brian Hill put the hosts ahead again.
The visitors fought until the end, and once again equalized the score, Andi Zechiri converted a penalty. Already in stoppage time, the referee awarded the third penalty kick in the match, and the second against the Swiss. Brian Zaragoza was accurate and brought victory to the hosts.
The Spanish national team secured first place in Group 4 with just one round to go. Luis De la Fuente’s team finished the group stage with 16 points. Switzerland scored 2 points, took last place in the quartet and dropped out of Division B of the League of Nations.
