Russian athlete Tomashova was officially excluded from the 2012 Olympics protocol and deprived of her Olympic medal.

The result of Russian Tatiana Tomashova in the 1,500 meters at the 2012 London Olympics has been officially canceled, the press service of the Association for Integrity in Sport (AIU) reports.

In September, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled to disqualify Tomashova for 10 years and ordered the Russian’s results from June 2012 to January 2015 to be annulled.

Today Tomashova is 49 years old. She finished fourth in the 1,500m in London, but was awarded silver after the medals were redistributed. First, Turkish champion Asli Alptekin was suspended for doping, then silver medalist Gamze Bulut was also disqualified due to anomalies in her biological passport. In 2018, the results were recorded, Tomashova was considered the silver medalist of the competition. However, in September 2024, information appeared about the doping of a Russian athlete.

Tomashova’s disqualification means Ethiopia’s Abeba Aregawi will take silver, while American Shannon Rowbury, who finished sixth on the original scoresheet, will take bronze.
