The Madrid club looks set to get a new coach this summer
Atlético began to prepare for the departure of the team’s head coach Diego Simeone.
The coach’s contract runs until 2027. Matrasnikov’s management is dissatisfied with the team’s performance and results after a large-scale financial investment in the summer. It is known that Diego’s teammate, sporting director Andrea Berta, will leave the team in the summer.
The Argentine has been coaching Atlético Madrid since December 2011 and is currently the main active one-club coach in top championships.
With the Madrid club, Simeone won the Spanish championship in 2014 and 2021, won the Europa League twice, reached the Champions League final twice, and was named coach of the year in the Pyrenean country four times.
Atletico currently ranks third in the La Liga standings. On November 23, Simeone’s team will host Alaves.
