“I went through surgery last year and a lot of other things. So I feel I can’t be competitive enough. I could have lasted another year, but why? To say goodbye to every tournament? I don’t have that big of an ego.
There’s no point in me continuing when I don’t have a real chance to play at the level I want to. My body will not allow me to do this very often,” ESPN quoted the Spaniard as saying.
Nadal announced his retirement from his professional career on October 10. The 38-year-old tennis player has won 22 Grand Slam titles.
