Shevchenko believes that the blue-yellows are gaining momentum
Chapter Ukrainian Football Association Andrey Shevchenko summed up the performance of the Ukrainian national team in the group stage of Division B1 of the Nations League and thanked the team for the key victory over Albania in the sixth round (2:1).
“1000 days of full-scale war – it was a strong motivation for the guys. I want to thank all our soldiers, the guys who defend our country. I think the team wanted to make a strong gift to the country.”
“We had a very good first half, in the second we held out and showed serious character. We are finishing this year, it is very important that we made it to the playoffs, we are moving on. Next year there are big tasks, we will wait for the draw to decide which group we will be in.”
“I think the team is just gaining strength. I wish them to prepare and show the best football next year,” Shevchenko concluded.
Ukraine finished in second place in Group B1 of the 2024/25 Nations League. Over the course of six rounds, Rebrov’s team scored eight points, recording two wins, two draws and two losses.
The blue-and-yellows made it to the playoffs for the right to advance to Division A. Ukraine can play Scotland, Hungary, Serbia or Belgium. The draw will take place on Friday, November 22. The playoff matches themselves will take place next year – on March 20 and 23.
