Bazarova – about the Russian Grand Prix: “When the leaders go out on the ice cut by skates, it’s not normal”

Winner of the European Figure Skating Championships Vera Bazarova described the situation regarding the quality of the ice during the stages of the Russian Grand Prix as abnormal.

– This is clearly an incident of the organizers, it shouldn’t be like this. Of course, before the strongest athletes enter, ice must be poured. Rental depends on the quality of the ice, especially in the form of ice dancing. And this clearly affects the result – it is much more difficult to play last, because the ice is already completely collapsing by that time.

When the leaders go out on ice cut by skates, it is not normal. Here, we must seek a compromise, structure the broadcast in such a way as not to disturb the athletes. Otherwise, it results in unequal conditions and excessive risks for participants,” Bazarova was quoted as saying by “Championship”.

From November 20 to 24, the Figure Skating Grand Prix will take place in St. Petersburg.
