Athletistic/ Figure Skating. In February 2022, the Beijing Winter Olympics were held. Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva became the Olympic champion in the team tournament. She was also the big favorite before the individual competition. However, due to the doping scandal and the psychological pressure associated with it, Valieva could not skate the free program properly and only became fourth. Another Russian woman, Anna Shcherbakova, became an Olympic champion. Shcherbakova spoke about the rivalry with Valieva.

– We constantly train together. It’s so familiar to us that we come to competitions together, most of the girls in our group attend tournaments… It’s such a familiar atmosphere and I’m definitely not going to competitions as a favourite. Girls in figure skating, it seems to me, do not have hardcore favorites at all. It’s always such a fight. I went to do my job, I did it. I am satisfied, – said Shcherbakova in an interview with the Youtube channel “Sports Exchange”.
