Player Reshetilovka Orobko: At the border, our key player was taken to the TCC, in Poland another player did not return to us, and the club stole our passports

The volleyball player, who did not return to Ukraine after a trip to Belgium, blames his club for what happened

Center blocker Reshetilovki Andrey Orobko commented on the information about his non-return to Ukraine after leaving for Belgium for the matches of the 1/16 finals of the volleyball Challenge Cup 2024/24 against Menena.

“When we were going to a European Cup game in Belgium, our key player was taken to the TCC at the border, the club could not do anything. Now he is on training exercises, although the management said that everything is fine with him and he is at home. Before this trip, we went to matches in the Faroe Islands, where this player said that he would not go because he had problems with military documents, but the management assured that everything would be fine, and upon his return this issue would be settled. The player had his own warnings that there would be problems at the border, and refused to go, after which the management, without warning of the consequences, fined him a considerable amount. In the end he was right…”

“Later, at a stop in Poland, another key player did not return to us, and we realized that there would be no normal training process and high achievements in the championship and European competitions, and the club would have problems with travel, and perhaps even more serious ones. And yet we decided to play a European Cup match. After the game, the club management took our passports and simply disappeared. Since this is our personal and most important document, which no one has the right to appropriate, my partner and I went to the police and reported the theft of our passports. They couldn’t help us with anything, except that they gave us papers confirming that we don’t have foreign passports.”

“To sum up, this decision was influenced by the inaction of the club, assuring that everything was fine. The theft of our passports and the absence of the main players, problems with living in Reshetilovka due to constant power outages in cold weather and many others. I also have Polish sports citizenship, and in Ukraine I performed as a foreign player, and it’s better for me to find a club in Europe than to return to Reshetilovka. I will definitely return to Ukraine in the near future.”

Let us remind you that today it became known that at least two (and possibly three) Reshetilovka players did not return from Belgium to Ukraine after matches with Menin in the 1/16 finals of the 2024/25 Volleyball Challenge Cup. In addition to Orobko, the name of finishing player Dmitry Shavrak was also mentioned.

The mentioned matches took place on November 12 and 13, Reshetilovka (a debutant in European competition) suffered two defeats in them with a score of 0:3. Earlier, in the 1/32 finals, the team from the Poltava region passed the Faroese Klaksvik.

27-year-old Orobko was born in the city of Stebnik, Drohobych district, Lviv region. The first three clubs in his professional career were the Polish Effektor, MKS Akwa-Zdroj and Buskowianka. Next on the Ukrainian’s track record was the French Grand Nancy. In Ukraine, before Reshetilovka, Andrey played for Epicenter-Podolyany and Zhytichi.
