President Zelensky deprived Tymoshchuk of state awards of Ukraine

Vladimir Zelensky approved the decision of the RNBO regarding 34 traitors to the country

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky permanently deprived the ex-player of Shakhtar and the Ukrainian national team Anatoly Timoshchuk state awards and other forms of awards.

The head of state signed a Decree of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on personal sanctions for traitors to the country. The list included 34 Ukrainians and citizens of other countries – artists, politicians. Among them are singers Ani Lorak, Taisiya Povaliy, former Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov, ex-deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, as well as Russian singers Philip Kirkorov, Nikolai Baskov, Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Vladimir Gundyaev and others.

Let us note that in 2006 Tymoshchuk received the Order of Courage, III degree (for participation in the World Championships in Germany). The midfielder also had the title of Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine and the “Name Firearms” award.

Let us recall that in March 2022, the UAF CDC banned Tymoshchuk from carrying out any activities related to football in Ukraine for life. Also, the ex-football player was deprived of all titles of winner and silver medalist of the Ukrainian Championship, Ukrainian Cup, and Ukrainian Super Cup. Tymoshchuk appealed the decisions of the FTC, but the UAF Appeal Committee rejected the complaint in full.

Tymoshchuk also came under sanctions from the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. The sanctions provide for blocking the assets of persons on the territory of Ukraine, restricting trade operations, as well as a ban on entry into the territory of Ukraine.

Tymoshchuk appealed the UAF decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. CAS satisfied the ex-football player’s claim. According to the court decision, the federation is obliged to return the ex-player his titles, coaching license and add him to the register of national teams.

The ex-Shakhtar football player played for Russian Zenit in 2007-2009 and 2013-2015. From March 2017 to this day, Tymoshchuk has been working on the coaching staff of the club from St. Petersburg.

Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air bombardments of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 1003rd day.
