The club reacted to the non-return of two of its players to Ukraine from Belgium
Volleyball club Reshetilovka made an official statement regarding the sensational situation with two of its players, Andrey Orobko And Dmitry Shavrakwho did not return to Ukraine after traveling to Belgium for the volleyball 1/16 final matches Challenge Cup 2024/24 against Menena.
The club officially announces that it categorically does not support or share the actions of the players, which were their personal decision.
Director of VK Reshetilovka Sergei Kotman said:
“Our club operates within the framework of the law. Issues of military registration, border crossing and sports discipline of team representatives are under special control. The fact that Dmitry Shavrak and Andrey Orobko left the sports camp without permission and refused to return to Ukraine because they were scared is their decision, for which, I am convinced, they should be held accountable. Orobko said that he was cold here. Yes, the whole country is cold, the shelling is the reason for this – the war continues, let me remind you. I would also like to note that we do not resolve issues with the TCC, everyone is on an equal footing.”
“VK Reshetilovka has existing long-term contracts with the guys. Therefore, if they want to represent a European club in violation of the agreement, the Volleyball Federation and I will resolve this issue legally.”
“We strongly condemn the actions of these athletes; no status or profession exempts them from responsibility to their state. The whole team is now continuing training at home, and we will continue to represent the Poltava region in the Super League.”
Let us remind you that today it became known that at least two (and possibly three) Reshetilovka players did not return from Belgium to Ukraine after matches with Menin in the 1/16 finals of the 2024/25 Volleyball Challenge Cup. In addition to the central blocker Orobko, the name of the finishing player Shavrak was also mentioned.
The mentioned matches took place on November 12 and 13, Reshetilovka (a debutant in European competition) suffered two defeats in them with a score of 0:3. Earlier, in the 1/32 finals, the team from the Poltava region passed the Faroese Klaksvik.
