At the starting stage Ski Jumping World Cup 2024/25 in Norwegian Lillehammer A historical event for Ukraine happened. For the first time our country was represented in mixed doublesbut in her debut competition at this level she was unable to compete for medals.
Ukraine was represented in the competition by the leaders of the men’s team Vitaly Kalinichenko And Evgeniy Marusyakand also Tatiana Pilipchuk and the youngest participant in the entire mixed team tournament – 17-year-old Zhanna Glukhova.
In total, Ukrainian athletes scored 269 points, which meant last, 11th place for the team – only a few points behind the US team. The German team (Selina Freitag, Andreas Wellinger, Katharina Schmid and Pius Paschke) won gold in mixed doubles. The second result goes to Norway, third place goes to the Austrian team.
The stage in Lillehammer will continue tomorrow with men’s and women’s individual starts, and will end on Sunday, November 24.
A total of 28 stages are planned for the 2024/25 season. As the coach of the national ski jumping team, Vladimir Boshchuk, previously said, the Ukrainian national team will miss some of them due to their too busy schedule. In particular, the blue-yellows will not perform at the stages in Finland (Ruka, November 29 – December 1; Lahti, March 20-23), as well as Japan (Saporro twice and Zao).
