Israeli Anastasia Gorbenko and Ukrainian Mikhail Romanchuk became the winners of the European Swimming Championships, which are held in Rome.
Gorbenko won the 200m medley with a time of 2 minutes 10.92 seconds. Romanchuk won the gold medal in the 1500m freestyle. He covered the distance in 14 minutes 36.10 seconds.
Hungarian Krystof Milak won the 200m butterfly. Sweden’s Sarah Sjöström won gold in the 50m freestyle and Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi won gold in the 50m breaststroke. Italian Margherita Pantsiera won the 100m backstroke.
Team Great Britain won the mixed 4x200m freestyle relay.
Britain’s Kyle Cotari and Lois Toulson won the mixed doubles in synchronized diving, while Italy’s Elena Bertocchi took gold in metre.
The contest will end on August 17.
