Russian marathon champion Yuri Chechun was elected chairman of the athletes’ commission of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF), the organization’s press service reported.
Chechens received 66 of a possible 68 votes from delegates at the ARAF reporting and election conference, which was held in Moscow on Saturday. In addition, Tchétchun, 38, was elected a member of the ARAF executive committee.
Earlier, at the ARAF reporting and election conference, Pyotr Fradkov was elected the new head of the federation.
Chechun won gold at the Russian marathon championship in 2015, and he also won the Moscow and Kazan marathons.
