Three-time Olympic medalist and six-time world swimming champion Yulia Efimova told how she met the first vice-president of the FHR and the head coach of SKA Romain Rotenberg noting that he seemed to be a very sociable person.
Efimova, who is participating in the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships, which takes place in St. Petersburg from November 21 to 26, attended the KHL match between SKA and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.
— Do you like going to hockey? You attended the SKA – Torpedo match.
– Great! I really liked it. Although I support Spartak, I just didn’t expect that there would be such a joyful atmosphere in St. Petersburg, that I would be welcomed like that, that so many new acquaintances would appear.
— For example, Roman Rotenberg. How did he seem to you when you first met him?
“I was amazed at how much information he gives per minute!” A very sociable person. He is literally bubbling with ideas, this energy springs from him. I went to hockey with Evgeny Korotyshkin, he is vice-president of the federation (water sports – editor’s note). And after meeting Rotenberg, Zhenya said: “It’s nice to see when people’s eyes light up and want to move the sport forward.”
— Rotenberg immediately offered you to coach children at the hockey school and give master classes at the new sports center in Skolkovo.
– Yes, it was nice. I hope everything works out. In general, we have been trying for a long time to make swimming compatible with other sports, for example, hockey. This is very important for promotion, so that everyone benefits,” Efimova told the correspondent.
