The All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) appointed the Minister of Sports of Russia Mikhail Degtiarev for the post of president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), reports the ARAF press service.
The organization’s reporting and election conference was held on November 23.
— The members of the executive committee decided to appoint Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev as president of the Russian Olympic Committee.
ARAF President Pyotr Fradkov and Secretary of the Council of the President of the Russian Federation for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports Marat Filippov have been appointed members of the ARAF Executive Committee, reports the press release.
Earlier, Degtyarev told that he plans to run for the post of head of the ROC. The organization’s executive committee had scheduled elections for December 13; Stanislav Pozdniakov had previously decided to leave his post.
