Barcelona missed out on away win over Celta with a minority

The Galicians managed to distinguish themselves twice at the very end of the match

The match of the 14th round of the Spanish team took place in Vigo. ExamplesCelta achieved a draw at home against Barcelona (2:2).

The scoring was opened already in the 15th minute – Rafinha scored. In the second half, the Catalans’ lead was doubled by Robert Lewandowski, who scored his 15th goal in this La Liga series. The Polish forward is ahead of his closest pursuers in the scoring race by as many as seven goals.

In the 82nd minute, Barcelona remained in the minority – Marc Casado was sent off from the field for two yellow cards. From that moment on, the Galicians began their heroic comeback – first, 25-year-old forward Alfonso Gonzalez scored his debut goal of the season, after which young Hugo Alvarez scored the second goal against Iñaki Pena.

Let us note that 20-year-old midfielder Gavi appeared in Barcelona’s starting lineup for the first time in 382 days. He only recovered from a cruciate ligament injury in October and appeared on the field in recent matches exclusively as a substitute.

After today’s draw, Barcelona still maintains the lead in La Liga, but in terms of lost points its lead over Real Madrid is minimal. Hans-Dieter Flick’s side are seven points ahead of Blancos but have two matches in hand – against Valencia (postponed due to storm DANA) and Leganes (to be played tomorrow, November 24).

In the next round of Primera Liga, Celta will play against Espanyol on November 30, and Barcelona will host Las Palmas on the same day. Before this, the Catalans will still have a Champions League match to look forward to – on November 26 they will host Brest at home.
