Zahozhiy surprisingly suffered the first defeat of his career and lost the EBU title

The previously undefeated Ukrainian heavyweight lost to the Kosovo challenger by unanimous decision.

European EBU heavyweight champion Ukrainian Alexander Zakhozhiy (19-1, 15 KOs) suffered a shocking loss in a fight against Kosovo challenger Labinot Jojaj (20-0-1, 16 KOs).

The fight took place at the Olympiastuetzpunkt in Heidelberg, Germany, and the Ukrainian boxer’s opponent was a late replacement for another native of Kosovo, representing Switzerland, Arnold Djerjaj (38-3, 27 KOs).

In the second round of the fight, the Ukrainian heavyweight managed to catch his opponent with a left hook and knock him down. However, the Kosovar got up and managed to continue the fight.

The rivals went the full distance of the match, eventually emerging victorious by unanimous decision with a score of 116-110, 115-111, 116-110.

For Zahozhiy, this defeat was the first in his professional career, and Jojay took the title of EBU champion from the Ukrainian.
