Figure skater Gumennik talks about his performance at the Grand Prix: “Moskvina is a coach with extensive experience. His calm was transmitted to me”

Figure skater Pierre Gumennik said the coach was calm Tamara Moskvina gave him confidence before going on the ice.

Gumennik scored 254.69 points based on the sum of two programs at the fifth stage of the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix.

— I feel good, one of those rare sensations after a free program where you want to participate in the competition again.

— Have you planned five quadruples for the first time at this start?

— I started training this content in September and made it easier each time during competitions. This time my Lutz went well both in warm-up and in practice, so I decided to try it, especially since I had such a situation after the court. It was unexpected to fall into the trap, but anything can happen in training.

– It’s not a leg injury?

– Only if it’s very indirect, because it no longer hurts. I have been doing general physical preparation for 4 months, the pain is disappearing.

— Will you continue to present this content?

– I think the probability is high. The guys have reached a very high level this season. A lot of people do five quads, lutz, flip. I think we will have to do it.

— Which quad was the most difficult to learn?

— The sheepskin coat was the hardest, I started learning it first, but it never found its way into my content. I’m trying to feel confident in the jump. When I know how to jump more or less well, I work on confidence.

— Is everything okay with Veronica Anatolyevna Daineko? We haven’t seen her today.

— Tamara Nikolaevna (Moskvina) told me that she had slight health problems. She apparently decided to stay home.

— How did Tamara Nikolaevna organize it?

— Tamara Nikolaevna is a very calm coach with a lot of experience. His calm was transmitted to me, I felt more confident. After skating, she said that I skated very well before the track, and after the track I hid somewhere, and she didn’t see me, then appeared again. That’s when I fell from a jump under the side. She never suggested switching to pairs skating; I think she sees my potential.

It’s always very unexpected and nice to hear how the audience supports me. The support from your hometown cannot be compared to anything.

Is it difficult to move from one image to another? I love when the programs are diverse, it’s no longer difficult for me. During training, I skate routines every day and don’t spend any resources on switching.

I wasn’t prepared for the fall, I went into the jump with the idea of leaving. I realized that I was being pulled towards the ground, I didn’t have time to turn around. Such falls look impressive,” reports a correspondent, reporting Gumennik’s words.
