The Ukrainian will have a preparatory fight before the title match.
The former world champion in three weight categories, Vasily Lomachenko will hold his next fight in October this year.
The Ukrainian boxer left his home country, coming to the United States to prepare for the fight.
Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) has agreed to fight American lightweight Jamaine Ortiz (16-0-1, 8 KOs), according to ESPN, citing its sources.
The fight is expected to headline ESPN’s Top Rank boxing night.
It will be remembered that Lomachenko last fought in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. After the outbreak of an all-out war, he entered the defense of the territory, refusing to fight for the title of the undisputed lightweight champion of the world against George Kambosos.
In turn, Ortiz fought his last fight in May when he defeated former world champion Jamel Herring on points, who then retired.
Lomachenko was previously reported to have commented on the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.
