Ukrainian foil fencers won silver at the first stage of the FIE World Cup in Tunisia

The Ukrainian quartet consisting of Daria Mironyuk, Alina Polozyuk, Olga Sopit and Ekaterina Budenko reached the final, where they were defeated by Japan

A team of Ukrainian foil players consisting of Daria Mironyuk, Alina Polozyuk, Olga Sopit And Ekaterina Budenko won silver in the first stage FIE World Cup V Tunisia.

Olga Leleiko’s team began their tournament journey from the 1/8 finals, where they defeated Hungary (45:38). In the quarter finals, Ukrainian foil fencers defeated the leaders of the world rankings – Italy (45:43).

In the semi-finals, the Ukrainian team was stronger than France (41:39), achieving a historic qualification to the final. On the way to gold, the Ukrainians met with Japan, to whom they lost with a score of 22:24.

Despite this, winning silver was a historic achievement for Ukraine at the World Cup. Let us remind you that in May, at the World Cup in Hong Kong, Ukrainian foil fencers won a historic bronze medal.
