Vitaly Stepanovsky’s team went into the big break with an 11-point advantage, but failed in the second half of the match
Ukraine national basketball team in Riga played the match of the fourth round of qualification at EuroBasket 2025 — Vitaly Stepanovsky’s team was defeated by Israel (75:88).
The Ukrainian team finished the starting quarter with a lead of five points, and before leaving for the long break, its advantage increased to 11 points.
As the third quarter began, there was a completely different balance of power on the court. Thanks to an excellent breakthrough, Israel reduced the gap to a minimum, and in the final 10 minutes he completely dominated the floor, bringing the matter to a victorious end.
The most productive player in the Ukrainian national team was Alexander Kovlyar, who recorded 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
Ukraine continues to remain an outsider in its Quartet A – it lost all four matches. Let us remind you that in February the blue-yellows lost away to Slovenia (73:87), and then lost to Portugal (77:79). Also, the day before yesterday, Stepanovsky’s team lost to Israel with a score of 73:86.
Ukraine’s chances of qualifying for EuroBasket 2025 have dropped to theoretical. Israel and Portugal each have two victories after four rounds, while Slovenia is in the lead with three victories to its credit. Three of the four best quartet teams will advance further.
The Ukrainian team has two final games left to qualify, which will take place next year. On February 20 there will be a match with Slovenia, and on February 23 – with Portugal.
