Bartulovich: We played to win against Polesie. We did everything to win, but ended up in a draw.

Zorya missed an away victory over Polesie in the final match of the 14th round of the UPL

Trainer Zari Mladen Bartulovich commented on the away draw against Polesie (1:1) in the final match of the 14th round UPL.

“It was difficult to get into the game. Difficult first half for us. Little worked. But the second half is a plus for us. We started the second half well. We started creating chances. We had to score and we did it. We controlled the match, but the optional removal of Roman Vantukh changed the pattern of the match.”

“We had to play defensively. For the first time this season we played in a draw. Considering how the game turned out, this draw is a plus for us.”

“What did they talk about during the break? There was a serious conversation. It was necessary to give the guys a shake-up and point out their mistakes. After that, they began to act bolder and more aggressive. Just what was needed.”

“The result today had a big impact, as did our standings. Perhaps that is why, because of this pressure, we started somewhere very carefully. We played to win. We did everything to win, but ended up in a draw. Of course, I want to say a big thank you to my team for their dedication and character.”

The scoring in today’s match was opened in the 65th minute – Zarya forward Filipp Budkovsky scored in the goal of his former club, taking advantage of a pass from young Artem Slesar.

Zarya remained in the minority in the 72nd minute – defender Roman Vantukh received a second yellow card. Polissya took advantage of the numerical advantage six minutes before the end of regulation time – centerback Eduard Sarapiy scored his debut goal for the Zhytomyr club.

Thanks to today’s draw, Zarya overtook Vorskla in the table – Mladen Bartulovich’s team is now based in 10th place.

The Luhansk team will play their next match on December 2 against the Carpathians.
