Catterall vs. Barbosa will determine mandatory challenger for WBO junior welterweight title
World Boxing Organization (WBO) confirmed the fight between the British welterweight boxer Jack Catterall (30-1, 13 KOs) and American Arnold Barbosa (31-0, 11 KOs).
The fight will receive elliminator status, and its winner will become a mandatory challenger for the WBO junior welterweight title, fighting its owner Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs).
Catterall and Barbosa have 20 days to agree on the terms of the fight. If the parties do not come to an agreement, then promotional bidding will take place.
Jack Catterall defeated Regis Prograis in his last fight in October. The fight lasted the entire distance of 12 rounds, but according to the judges’ notes, the Briton won.
Arnold Barbosa fought his last fight in November, winning a decision over Jose Ramirez.
