PSV coach Bos: Shakhtar is a team that wants to play football and plays a lot of short combinations

The PSV – Shakhtar match in the fifth round of the 2024/25 Champions League will take place tomorrow, November 27

Head coach PSV Peter Bos gave a press conference on the eve of the fifth round match Champions League 2024/25in which his team will take home Miner.

“Donetsk Shakhtar is a team that wants to play football, this can already be seen from their goalkeeper, who loves to play along. They play a lot of short combinations and work quickly. They even did it in London and actually outplayed Arsenal in places. In general, I think they lost there very annoyingly and, perhaps, undeservedly. We know how difficult it is to play well there. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that I think we should win tomorrow.”

“We just need to win tomorrow. This is definitely an important match. Home matches are actually always important, you always want to win them. We did well against Girona, but not so well against Sporting. That’s why it’s even more important to do it tomorrow. What matters is whether we can reach our level or not. Both with and without the ball. Tomorrow this will be the deciding factor.”

“Kouhaib Driosh left training yesterday due to injury, he will not be there tomorrow. As for Noah Lang and Luuk de Jong, I will talk to them after training today. So they will train as usual.”

PSV collected five points after four matches in the general stage of the 2024/25 Champions League. Peter Bosz’s team lost to Juventus (1:3), drew against Sporting (1:1) and PSG (1:1), and also defeated Girona (4:0). In the overall standings, the club from Eindhoven ranks 24th.

In the overall Champions League standings, the Miners are in 28th place with four points to their name. Until the end of the general stage of the tournament, Shakhtar has four matches left – in addition to PSV, the Donetsk club will play with Bayern (December 10), Brest (January 22) and Borussia Dortmund (January 29).

The match between PSV and Shakhtar will take place on Wednesday, November 27. Start – 22:00 Kyiv time. The match will be officiated by Swiss referee Urs Schnyder.
