High jumper Maria Kochanova and hammer thrower Valery Pronkin were recognized as athletes of the year according to the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF), the organization’s press service reports.
Kochanova and Pronkin won the Russian Championship in 2024, won the BRICS Games and met Olympic standards.
The best coach of the year was Elena Popkova, who works with Maria Kochanova. The winners in the Rising Star category were Maria Ermakova and Stepan Vetkin.
The winners will be awarded during the international competition “Russian Winter” in Moscow on February 8.
