On August 21, 2022, in Nizhny Novgorod, with the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, a race will be held – League of Heroes “Marathon 800”. It will become the flagship event of the rich program of City Day celebrations.
“Marathon 800” will take place for the second time. About 8,000 participants will come to the start to run through the central streets of one of the most beautiful cities in Russia. Participants expect three distances to choose from – 3, 10 or 42.2 km.

The marathon course is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Endurances (AIMS). All distances will cover the main historical places of Nizhny Novgorod: the Oka and Volga rivers, picturesque embankments and bridges, the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, the Chkalovsky staircase, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Mayak factory, the estates of the mercantile age and cathedrals of different centuries. The start and finish of the distances take place at the Nizhny Novgorod stadium.
The sports festival attracts professional athletes and amateurs of different training levels. This year, the three-time winner of the ultramarathon Comrades (South Africa), the winner of the 2022 Kazan marathon, the silver medalist of the 2022 White Nights marathon Alexandra Morozova will start the main distance. On the men’s side, the fight will be between 2012 London Olympics participant, four-time Russian champion Nikolai Chavkin and 2020 and 2021 Kazan Marathon silver medalist Alexei Troshkin.
Catering and refueling points, medical care will be organized for all remote participants. There is a prize fund for Marathon 800 winners. The total amount of prize payments will be 2.4 million rubles.
Each participant will receive a branded T-shirt with the symbols of the start and a medal at the finish line. A real holiday and running atmosphere awaits residents and guests: concert, children’s activities, mass warm-ups, photo zones, recreation and recovery space, interactive accessories for participants and fans, engraving of medals.
