A curious own goal did not help the guests win this match
In the fight of the fifth round of the main round Champions League Celtic played a draw at home with Bruges – 1:1.
In the middle of the first half, the most curious episode of the playing day occurred when Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers decided to pass to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel near his goal, not noticing that he had left his possession. The result was an offensive own goal.
After the break, the Scottish team equalized the score after a precise strike from Daizen Maeda. The visitors could have taken the lead again, but this time the goal was canceled after a VAR tip.
After this match, Celtic are in 20th place in the overall Champions League standings. Bruges is in 22nd position.
In the next round of the Champions League, Celtic will play against Dinamo Zagreb, and Brugge will play against Sporting.
