Figure skater Evgenia Lopareva competing for France in ice dancing with Geoffroy Brissot said the duo would return the phrase about Russians to the musical composition to which they perform a rhythmic dance.

Brissot and Lopareva, who obtained French citizenship after the start of SVO, won the Warsaw Cup in Poland. The couple performed a rhythmic dance to the song “Raspoutine”, at the end of which the phrase “Oh, ces russes” (“Oh, these Russians”) was replaced by “Oh, these dancers” (“Oh, these Russians”) dancers”). — This season turned out to be quite intense for us, we literally go from one start to the next. Immediately after the French Grand Prix stage, we went to Bordeaux to train with our French coach Roxanne Petetin. From there we went to Tallinn and Warsaw to compete in two consecutive Challenger Series tournaments.

After winning the Tallinn Trophy, Roxana (coach) shared with us that some judges, in private conversations, had already hinted to her several times that we should consider a different final phrase in our rhythm dance. We thought that since such conversations had started, perhaps it was really worth experiencing the ending.

This decision was made hastily and without thinking, literally on the way from Tallinn to Warsaw. We didn’t even have time to discuss it with the Montreal Academy. We tried a different ending for the music and realized that it violated the original concept of the dance and the idea we had put into the program.

After the performance in Warsaw, we had a conversation with the coaches from Montreal and it was decided to restore the original version of the music. So, next week in Grenoble, during the Grand Prix Final, the musical composition to which we have been skating since the beginning of the season will be played,” Sports.ru quotes Lopareva.
