Mandzyn: I would like to start the season very successfully

Vitaly will compete in the mixed relay at the first stage of the World Cup in Kontiolahti

Ukrainian biathlete Vitaly Mandzyn spoke about expectations from the first stage World Cup 2024/25 in Kontiolahti.

“Preparation for the season went according to plan – everything was as we expected. The greatest emphasis was placed on rifle form. I paid a lot of attention to working on psychology and functional state. I think everything went great.”

“I love all competitions and don’t single out any particular favorite disciplines for myself. But the race in Sweden gave me confidence psychologically, because we competed with top teams. So I’m very pleased with the result. And I’m sure that this victory will only be beneficial.”

“The mood is fighting. I would like to start the season very successfully and extend it at the same level. It’s hard to say about expectations yet. But, of course, I want the best. I’m very excited about this season. It’s interesting to look at your results and see if they have changed or improved compared to last year.”

In mid-November, Mandzyn triumphed in the short individual race at the Swedish Open Championship. The Ukrainian made two mistakes and was 44 seconds ahead of his nearest opponent.

At the first stage of the 2024/25 KM-2024/25, the Ukrainian team consisting of Artem Tishchenko and Elena Gorodnoy took ninth place in single mixed doubles. A mixed relay will also take place on Saturday. Ukraine will be represented in it by Anton Dudchenko, Vitaly Mandzyn, Kristina Dmitrenko and Yulia Jima. The race starts at 16:45.
