The team was temporarily headed by Serdar Topraktepe
Besiktas fired the head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Assistant coach Serdar Topraktepe will temporarily serve as first team coach.
Van Bronckhorst took charge of the Turkish club in June. Before this, the Dutchman had been unemployed for about two years after being fired from Rangers, with whom he previously reached the 2022 Europa League final.
Topraktepe was already led by Besiktas on an interim basis in the spring of 2024. Last season, the Black Eagles changed five coaches.
Besiktas is in fifth place in the Turkish Super League. Van Bronckhorst’s team has lost four of its last six matches. The last match for the Dutchman was a defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League (1:3).
