Silver medalists of the European Figure Skating Championships Alexandra Stepanova And Ivan Boukine They said they started preparing for the Russian Championship.
On Sunday, Stepanova and Bukin held a master class at the Shchukino ice rink. The event took place as part of the Winter in Moscow festival, organized jointly with the My Sports District project with the support of the Moscow Sports Department.
— What emotions remained from the master class? What do you think about being a coach in this regard?
Stepanova: There is a more entertaining program here, so one feels pleasure and enjoyment. I want to make people smile, because the New Year holidays are approaching. I wanted to have a good time. We have just returned from Voronezh: we performed there at Ilya Averbukh’s show, so we (arrive) in a good mood, with warmth, the atmosphere is fresh, winter is just beginning. Congratulations to everyone on the first day of winter!
Boukine: When I arrived and saw how beautiful it was here, I thought, “Wow.” It was not only nice to ride here, but also to give a master class. Coaching, of course, is a little different than it was here today. Sashka was right when she said it was more of an entertainment content. Thank you to everyone who came early Sunday morning, their day off, and enjoyed the day with us.
— New Year is coming, how do you usually celebrate it?
Stepanova: We have a lot of work, but first of all we will have the Russian Championship. And only after that we can afford to think about vacation. I don’t even decorate the Christmas tree before the Russian Championship. The mood comes after you finish all your work, the whole first half of the season.
And after the Russian Championship we start New Year’s shows, where we give the viewer (New Year’s mood). During the holidays, public performing athletes and artists create a festive atmosphere and treat people to wonderful performances.
Boukine: We try to create a festive atmosphere for others. Our holidays are very short days, a maximum of two days – December 31 and January 1. Even if we don’t play in the show, we also have very little – we have 4-5 days for the New Year, and we go back to fighting, we don’t really think about the holidays. The only advantage, of course, is that you get to training quickly, because there are no traffic jams.
Stepanova: But the New Year’s mood is coming, you have time to enjoy the Christmas tree, some preparations, and on the 31st you will have a family celebration. We have time to feel the new year, but perhaps not as widely. We don’t get to fly somewhere on New Year’s Day, relax, or hole up in the countryside for a week. It doesn’t exist, but we give people warmth and they give us their energy. We are having a good time these days.
— How are the preparations going for the national championship? Don’t such events disrupt the show?
Stepanova: If we receive offers, we try to choose shows that fall on the weekend. We adjust the schedule so that it does not interfere with preparation.
Boukine: We will not have any shows or events for the next two weeks. We will prepare fully and completely, we have already started.
Stepanova: We already started preparing that week. Literally, one day we went to Voronezh, we returned today, so tomorrow we will start preparing, ”reports the correspondent of , reporting the words of the skaters.
The Russian Figure Skating Championship will be held from December 19 to 22 in Omsk.
