The decisive stage of the Cup will take place in the spring of 2025
Today, December 1, the quarter final matches took place Ukrainian Cup Favbet season 2024/25. Dnieper left no chance at home Kyiv-Basket (93:62), Kharkov Falcons won on the road Cherkasy Mavp (61:58), and BC Rivne squeezed out in overtime on home court Old Lutsk (87:74).
The reigning champion buried the intrigue already in the middle of the meeting, when he led 49:26, and then played with class and even brought the matter to defeat. Five players in the winning team scored 10+ points, and the most productive (19) was Igor Dubonenko. Mikhail Gorobchenko recorded 13 assists.
The only representative of the Major League at this stage unexpectedly beat, and even on a foreign field, not the last team of the elite. The match in Cherkasy was marked by an equal fight with variable initiative. Two quarters ended with a modest score of 28:27 in favor of the hosts, but the Falcons spent the second half a little more confidently, gaining a small advantage and managing to keep it. On the court there was no equal to the leader of the Kharkiv team, Dmitry Martynov – 26 points.
Finally, Rivne and Lutsk needed overtime to determine who was the strongest. Regular time brought a draw 70:70 – while the guests, who had been losing the entire game, made a comeback in the last quarter. But in overtime, the Rivne team (30 points + 9 rebounds from Rod Brown) swept away their opponents from their home court and did not give them a chance to cling to the Final Four, even as the “lucky loser”.
As a result, the fourth semifinalist of the season was Cherkasy Mavpy, who lost their match at the quarterfinal stage with the smallest score.
Semi-final pairs will be formed later by drawing lots. The Final Four itself will take place in the spring of 2025.
