Babich: Petryak is, first of all, a person. He cannot offend. And when he sees a 100% violation, he gets stuck

In the match of the 15th round of the UPL against Alexandria, Chernomorets was left with nine players already in the 30th minute

Head coach Chernomorets Alexander Babich commented on the high-profile episodes in his team’s match against Alexandria (0:3) within the 15th round UPL.

“First of all, we understand that we want to play football. We don’t want to be helped and we don’t want our competitor or rival to be helped.”

“I think that first of all, in the first half, the goal was scored after a free kick, then they didn’t give a 100% yellow or maybe a red card to Belyaev, and this gave me such a nerve. The referee provoked with his actions… I think this foul by Belyaev on Butko is purely yellow. If Butko had been a little more cunning, he could have earned a red one for Alexandria. He is the captain, so he immediately began to voice complaints to the referee.”

“And Butko’s first yellow card. Bezerra dives at the slightest contact in the penalty area and there is a fuss there. They shouted: “This is a penalty,” and everything went from there. These are emotions, that’s normal. I’m very pleased with my guys because they played as one team. Yes, they didn’t play spectacular football, but they were a team. I agree that someone can change their team, but this is football. It’s better to be like this.”

“Petryak is, first of all, a person. He cannot offend. And when he sees a 100% violation, he gets stuck. It happens. The same Rudko – he couldn’t cope with him. I will shake hands with each of our players. There will be certain conclusions, but not for the red players who earned money – we will talk to them separately – but for the players who came on as substitutes.”

In the match with Alexandria, Chernomorets remained in a double minority already by the 30th minute of the match. First, in the 16th minute, Ivan Petryak received a straight red card, after which the Odessa captain, Bogdan Butko, received a second yellow card.

Playing with nine players, Chernomorets maintained a minimal gap in the score until the 80th minute, but then conceded twice and suffered a final crushing defeat.

In the standings, Alexander Babich’s team is in 13th position with 12 points scored. Chernomorets will play his next match on December 7 at home against Krivbass.
