Defender of Karpaty – about the match with Zorya in the 15th round of the UPL
Defender of the Carpathians Pavel Polegenko opened the scoring in the 15th round game with Zarya. However, his team failed to take away a single point from the capital of Ukraine – defeat 1:2.
— Pavel, is this a heavy defeat for the Carpathians?
— All defeats are severe. We need to draw the right conclusions from defeats. I think that defeats sometimes have a greater impact on the development of a team than victories.
— Why didn’t your team manage to convert great scoring chances in the first half? There were a lot of them…
— Yes, Ocheretko and my other teammates had a moment. Even great masters don’t score. We created a lot of scoring chances and, unfortunately, we didn’t convert them. We can add this game to our asset list.
— Based on the quality of your team’s play, did you like this match?
— There were both good moments on our part and not so good ones.
— With the score 1:1, has it become more difficult for Carpathians to create danger at the gates of Zarya?
– I wouldn’t say that this is so. We still had our moments.
— You probably knew that if you won, you could finish in the top five UPL teams. For a team that just entered the elite division, this would be a great story…
— As our head coach Vladislav Lupashko says, our team is just being built now. We’ll see at the end of the season what we can show.
— What were your coach’s emotions after the final whistle in the locker room?
– Nobody likes to lose. However, he calmly explained everything, pointed out our good points and said that we were on the right track.
