On December 21, Sergey will fight with Madrimov
Tom LefflerUkrainian promoter Sergei Bogachuk (24-2, 23 KO), commented on the announcement of the fight of the WBO International belt holder, interim WBC world champion in junior middleweight Virgil Ortiz (22-0, 21 KO) with ex-world champion from Uzbekistan Israil Madrimov (10-0-2, 7 KOs) – the Ukrainian’s upcoming opponent.
“Bad karma. Sergei Bogachuk has a knockout rate of over 90 percent and knocked down Virgil Ortiz twice. He’s going to knock out Madrimov on December 21st, no more dealings with the judges.”
Today the card of the boxing evening for February 22 in Riyadh has become known. In addition to the Ortiz-Madrimov fight, Saudi Arabia will also host a fight between IBF heavyweight title holder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) and interim WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs).
The head-to-head fight between Bogachuk and Madrimov will take place on December 21 in Riyadh, on the undercard of the rematch between WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC heavyweight world champion Alexander Usik and former WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury.
Bogachuk lost to Virgil Ortiz by split decision in his last fight. In the first and eighth rounds, Bogachuk knocked down his opponent. However, after 12 rounds, one judge recorded a draw, the other two gave preference to Ortiz.
Madrimov also lost his last fight. In August, the Uzbek fighter lost to Terence Crawford in the fight for the interim WBO junior middleweight title. Israil also lost his WBA belt, won in March in a fight with Magomet Kubranov.
