Athletistic/ Others. Russian synchronized swimmer Svetlana Kolesnichenko spoke about the amount of prize money in her sport, noting that in synchronized swimming it is impossible to save so much money to live comfortably after retirement.
“Our goal in sports is to find the path that will take you further. It would be great to invest, but the money is not the same. They give 4 million rubles to win the Olympics. And that’s not is not enough for a car,” says Kolesnichenko. The synchronized swimmer compared the prize money of her sport with the salaries of football players, noting wryly that she is unlikely to earn that much money in her entire life.
Svetlana Kolesnichenko is a three-time Olympic champion (2016 – group; 2020 – duet and group). In addition, Svetlana won the World Swimming Championship 16 times and the gold medal of the European Swimming Championship 11 times in various disciplines of synchronized swimming.
