sport.Fr/Other. FIDE chief Arkady Dvorkovich spoke about the death of 12-year-old chess player Polina Kunikova during the Russian Children’s Championship in Loo (Lazarevsky district of Sochi).
Recall that the girl was bitten by dogs. During her free time after competitions, Kunikova found herself in a closed area, where she was attacked by animals. The body of a 12-year-old chess player was discovered by a passerby who came to feed the dogs.
“Horrible drama. I know from colleagues that an investigation is underway. The Russian Chess Federation will help Polina’s family in every possible way,” Dvorkovich was quoted as saying by ‘Championship’.
Kunikova’s death caused the tournament to be halted prematurely at Loo.
