‘There is no competitive spirit, everything is sad’ – Lasitskene complained about lack of competition at Moscow tournament

Olympic high jump champion Maria Lasitskene told that she was sad about the lack of competitive spirit at the VP Kuts Memorial tournament in Moscow.

Lasickienė won the competition on Thursday with a score of 1.88 meters.

– Disappointed not to have taken 1.95 m. I am unhappy with the start, even if the condition was good. It was as if an open practice with the girls had happened, with no jitters or worries. Everything was sort of in normal mode, there was no emotion to cheer me up, Lasitskene said.

– Is it because you are in fact in competition with yourself?

Yes, it is also related to that. There was no such competitive spirit. Somehow it’s sad…

– When will the contest appear?

— I don’t know the answer to that question (laughs). No need to wait, you have to do it yourself! One way or another, draw strength, emotions from yourself. Every athlete should do this. Today it didn’t work.
