Honored Coach of the USSR Tatiana Tarasova believes 15-year-old Russian figure skater Uliana Shiryaeva’s transition to the Canadian team will help the athlete develop.
Shiryaeva moved to Canada earlier in 2022, she has already been entered into the Belair Direct BC tournament, which takes place August 18-21 in Burnaby.
– There is no difficulty in the transition of athletes from one team to another. Moreover, under the current conditions, there is no need to discuss it, it is past and gone. Personally, I am not offended that our young athletes are changing the national team. Yes, they are leaving us, but it’s a good page in their lives and careers,” Tarasova told RBC Sport.
Shiryaeva won bronze at the Russian Cup in juniors in 2021 and also became 11th in the Russian Championship in juniors in 2022.
