Blocker for the St. Petersburg volleyball team Ivan Yakovlev said that the intrigue before reaching the final of the All-Russian Spartakiad tournament of summer sports among the strongest athletes in 2022 lasted until the last match.
On Friday, the St. Petersburg team defeated the national team of the Kemerovo region in the last round of the group stage of Spartakiad and reached the final of the tournament, where it will play with volleyball players from the team of Tatarstan.
“After the game, it’s hard to say how I feel. We’re happy to have reached the final, the plot held until the end, it all depended on the game today. We knew we had to win 3-0 to go further.
Spartakiad is a tough tournament. So many games in a row, the charge is felt, but we try not to think about it. Tomorrow is a day to recover and fight again.
We have already become a different, more cohesive team. We rolled, we got used to it. Let’s show another volleyball that you could watch in the first meeting,” the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) press service quoted Yakovlev as saying.
The final match will take place on August 21 in Moscow.
