Quadruple Olympic champion, Norwegian skier Therese Yohaug in her autobiography, she described her reaction to a positive doping test report in October 2016. The excerpt leads VG edition .
— I checked the e-mail from the Norwegian anti-doping service. It says test positive. My body tensed, but panic didn’t overwhelm me immediately. My first thought was that it was a misunderstanding. They must have sent the wrong message to the wrong person.
That day we were with my boyfriend Nils Jakob. I started to read further. The letter stated that a urine sample taken during an out-of-competition doping control in Oslo on September 16, 2016 contained clostebol. Substance on the Prohibited List. And then I froze in fear, looked at myself in the mirror and screamed, – she told about her emotions in the book Yohaug.
The skier was suspended for 18 months for clostebol, she missed the 2017 world championships and the 2018 Olympics. Yohaug ended her career in the spring of 2022.
The athlete is a four-time Olympic champion, won gold at the 2010 Olympics and three gold medals at the 2022 Olympics. She also has 14 gold medals at the world championships.
